Can a parent support group help teens with both autism and anorexia?
NCT ID NCT07757646
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how parents of autistic young people (ages 12-18) with anorexia nervosa make sense of a group intervention designed for them. Researchers want to understand how parents interpret the concepts from the group and apply them to daily family life, and how they see autism affecting their child's recovery. Six parents who attended at least half of the group sessions will be interviewed online about their experiences. The goal is to learn how to better support families in this situation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Group intervention for parents of autistic young people with anorexia nervosa
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could improve how parent support groups are designed for families of autistic young people with anorexia, potentially enhancing recovery support at home.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small interview-based study with only 6 participants, so findings may not apply broadly. It explores experiences rather than testing a treatment, so it won't directly prove what helps recovery.
