New hope for rare lymphomas: drug that blocks JAK protein under study
NCT ID NCT02974647
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests the drug ruxolitinib in people with T or NK cell lymphoma that has come back or not responded to prior treatment. Ruxolitinib works by blocking a protein called JAK, which helps these cancer cells survive. The goal is to see if the drug can shrink tumors or control the disease. About 83 adults will take part in this Phase 2 trial.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ruxolitinib
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with hard-to-treat T or NK cell lymphomas, potentially shrinking tumors or slowing disease progression.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 83 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not work for all types of lymphoma, and side effects are possible.
