This study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called rTMS could reduce tobacco cravings in heavy smokers who had already failed multiple quit attempts. 39 highly nicotine-dependent adults received either real or fake rTMS to a brain region linked to craving, alongside nicotine replacement therapy.
