Brain zaps may mend hearts after stroke

NCT ID NCT07482501

First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to standard rehabilitation can improve heart rate variability (a sign of healthy heart control) in 44 stroke survivors. Participants will receive rTMS alongside rehab, and researchers will measure heart function, muscle strength, and quality of life over 4 weeks. The goal is to see if this approach can ease autonomic dysfunction after stroke.
