Shoulder surgery secrets: anchor angle may determine healing success

NCT ID NCT07661680

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how the position and angle of surgical anchors used in rotator cuff repair affect cyst formation and tendon healing. Researchers will use MRI scans to measure cyst volume and assess tendon recovery in 70 adults aged 18–70 undergoing primary arthroscopic repair. The goal is to identify surgical factors that lead to better shoulder function and fewer complications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If clear links are found, surgeons may adjust anchor placement to reduce cyst formation and improve tendon healing after rotator cuff repair.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not prove that anchor parameters directly cause better outcomes, and results may not apply to all patients.
