Scientists probe mystery gene's role in hardening of the arteries
NCT ID NCT06230406
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at how a gene called TMEM230 might be involved in atherosclerosis, the buildup of fatty plaques in arteries that can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Researchers will analyze gene activity in blood and artery samples from 12 adults undergoing vascular surgery. The goal is to better understand the disease's molecular roots, which could eventually point to new ways to prevent or treat it.
