Immune cell clues may unlock better HS treatment

NCT ID NCT07388446

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how certain immune cells, called MAIT cells, behave in people with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a painful skin condition. Researchers will take skin and blood samples from 45 adults with HS and compare them to samples from people with other skin diseases. The goal is to understand if MAIT cells can predict how well a patient will respond to biologic drugs. No new treatment is being tested; participants receive standard care.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could identify immune markers that help predict which biologic treatment works best for each patient with hidradenitis suppurativa.
What could go wrong
This is an early exploratory study with no direct treatment benefit. It only looks at cells and does not test a new therapy, so it may not lead to immediate changes in care.
