First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compared two pain-blocking injections for people with multiple broken ribs. One method (paravertebral block) is effective but risky; the newer retrolaminar block may be safer and easier. Sixty adults with rib fractures received one of the two blocks, and researchers measured how much extra pain medicine they needed in the first 48 hours.
