Ultrasound spots hidden rib fractures, may change surgery plans

NCT ID NCT07338617

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding an ultrasound to a CT scan can find more rib cartilage fractures than a CT scan alone. Researchers will follow 100 adults with chest injuries to see if finding these hidden fractures changes treatment, such as whether surgery is needed. Participants will be checked at 1, 3, and 12 months for pain, healing, and lung function.
