Promising drug combo targets Hard-to-Treat brain cancers

NCT ID NCT07468136

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests two drugs—retifanlimab (an immunotherapy) and DFMO (a growth blocker)—alone or together in 33 adults with progressive high-grade glioma, an aggressive brain cancer. The goal is to find the safest, most effective dose and see if the combination boosts the immune system's attack on tumors. Participants will undergo surgery, MRI scans, and blood/CSF collection as part of the trial.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

retifanlimab and difluoromethylornithine (DFMO)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new, more effective treatment option for people with progressive high-grade glioma, potentially slowing tumor growth.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 33 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination therapy may cause side effects or fail to improve outcomes.
