NCT ID NCT07204431

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether a respiratory physiotherapy program using PowerBreathe and PEP Therosold devices can improve lung function in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Sixty participants over age 65 were split into two groups to compare different breathing exercise protocols. Researchers measured changes in breathing strength and lung capacity using ultrasound and spirometry.

What this could lead to

If effective, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to help elderly COPD patients breathe easier and improve their lung function.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial with only 60 participants. The results may not apply to all COPD patients, and the benefits might be modest.
