Arm cuff therapy may shield heart and brain after stroke
NCT ID NCT07531394
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a simple, non-invasive treatment called remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) for people who have had a stroke and also developed heart muscle injury. RIC involves using a blood pressure cuff on the arm to briefly restrict blood flow, which may trigger the body's own protective responses. The trial will include 580 adults and compare RIC to a sham procedure given twice daily for 14 days, with a 3-month follow-up to see if it reduces major heart and brain complications.
