Could a belly strap replace clinic visits for High-Risk pregnancies?

NCT ID NCT06822439

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a simple fetal ECG monitor worn at home can effectively track the health of babies in high-risk pregnancies. Fifty pregnant women who need weekly fetal testing will use the device for 30-minute sessions, three times a week, starting at 32 weeks. The goal is to see if this approach is acceptable and practical for patients and doctors, potentially reducing the burden of frequent clinic visits.

Fetal ECG monitoring device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that remote fetal monitoring is a practical option for high-risk pregnancies, potentially reducing the need for frequent clinic visits.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to all pregnant women. The device may not work well for everyone or may be difficult to use at home.
