Can a digestive enzyme device help pancreatitis patients tolerate tube feeds?

NCT ID NCT07583342

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether RELiZORB, a cartridge containing fat-digesting enzymes, can help adults with moderate to severe acute pancreatitis tolerate tube feeding better. Fifteen participants in the ICU will receive the device and be monitored for how much nutrition they can take in. The goal is to see if more calories can be delivered compared to before using the device.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RELiZORB digestive enzyme cartridge (immobilized lipase)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a way to improve nutrition delivery in hospitalized pancreatitis patients who struggle with tube feeding.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-phase study with only 15 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The device may not significantly improve feeding tolerance.
