Shock therapy for stomachs: wrist band may curb Post-Surgery nausea
NCT ID NCT07063979
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a wrist-worn device called Reletex Reliefband can reduce nausea and vomiting after bariatric sleeve gastrectomy. The device uses mild electrical pulses to stimulate nerves and suppress nausea. Researchers will compare it to a sham device in 100 adults to see if it lessens the need for anti-nausea drugs and helps patients recover faster.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Reletex Reliefband (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation device)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to control nausea after bariatric surgery, reducing side effects like drowsiness and speeding up recovery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with 100 participants, and past studies had limitations. The device may not work better than a placebo, and results may not apply to all patients.
