Empty bladder may ease prostate radiation prep, trial suggests
NCT ID NCT06037863
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether having an empty bladder before CT simulation for prostate cancer radiation therapy is better than the usual full bladder. The goal is to see if it reduces urinary symptoms and makes daily treatments more consistent. About 168 men with prostate cancer will be randomly assigned to either empty or full bladder preparation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bladder filling procedure
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that an empty bladder is just as good or better for radiation planning, reducing patient discomfort and treatment delays.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (168 participants) comparing two preparation methods, not a new treatment. Results may not change standard practice or apply to all patients.
