NCT ID NCT07536594
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares two pain relievers given through an IV for sudden, severe kidney stone pain in the emergency department. Researchers want to see if lidocaine, a numbing medicine, works as well as morphine, an opioid, to reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers. About 250 adults with suspected kidney stones will take part. The goal is to find a safer option that could help fight the opioid crisis.
