First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether progressive relaxation exercises can help people with lumbar disc herniation (a slipped disc in the lower back) feel less afraid of moving, have less pain, and enjoy a better quality of life. About 96 adults with confirmed slipped discs were randomly assigned to either standard care or standard care plus supervised relaxation exercises three times a week for 15 sessions. The results showed that adding relaxation exercises may provide extra benefits for managing symptoms.
