Reiki during cancer treatment: a new way to ease anxiety?

NCT ID NCT05979610

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether Reiki, a gentle hands-on therapy, can reduce anxiety and pain in people receiving brachytherapy (internal radiation) for gynecologic cancers like endometrial, cervical, vaginal, or vulvar cancer. About 70 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a Reiki session or standard care during the wait time before their radiation treatment. Researchers will compare changes in anxiety, pain, and mood using questionnaires taken on the treatment day and three months later.
