North carolina hospitals test new way to curb opioid overprescribing

Summary

This study aims to see if a special training program helps surgeons and hospital staff prescribe fewer opioids after surgery. About 40 healthcare workers and patient representatives at hospitals in North Carolina will take part. They will attend educational sessions, use a toolkit, and review their prescribing data. The goal is to reduce unnecessary opioid use while keeping patients comfortable.
