Robot suit aims to help stroke and spinal injury patients walk again
NCT ID NCT06805500
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a new robotic device called REACTION that combines an exoskeleton and a gait trainer to help people with stroke or spinal cord injury improve walking and balance. Seven participants completed two sessions of walking and balance tasks, followed by an interview. The goal was to see if the device is feasible and to measure walking speed and balance.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
REACTION device (combination of exoskeleton and gait trainer)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new rehabilitation tool that helps improve walking and balance in people with neurological conditions.
What could go wrong
This is a very small feasibility study with only 7 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device is still in early testing and may not improve walking speed significantly.
