NCT ID NCT07414550

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether high-dose radiotherapy can improve symptoms of hidradenitis suppurativa, a painful skin condition. Ten adults with moderate to severe disease will receive radiation to one armpit while the other armpit gets standard care. Researchers will compare changes in inflammatory nodules, abscesses, and quality of life between the treated and untreated sides.

Active substance
Radiation therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with severe hidradenitis suppurativa that hasn't responded to other therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 10 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Radiotherapy also carries risks like skin irritation and long-term side effects.
