First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a gel called PuraStat that is applied inside the prostate after a water-jet surgery (Aquablation) for enlarged prostate. The goal is to see if it reduces bleeding enough for men to go home the same day. Twenty-five men will take part in this early pilot study.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- PuraStat (a sterile gel applied inside the prostate to stop bleeding)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could allow men to go home the same day after prostate surgery instead of staying overnight.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small, early pilot study with only 25 men. It may not show a clear benefit, and the gel might not reduce bleeding enough for same-day discharge.
