Electric pulses vs. heat or cold: new heart ablation trial aims for safer AF treatment
NCT ID NCT07156877
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study compares a new method called pulsed field ablation (PFA) using the VOLT catheter to standard heat or cold ablation for treating atrial fibrillation (AF). About 136 adults with AF will be randomly assigned to receive either PFA or standard ablation. The goal is to see if PFA is as effective at preventing irregular heart rhythms and causes fewer serious complications like stroke or heart damage.
