First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at 460 adults who came to the emergency room after a traumatic event, like a serious injury or threat of death. The goal was to find out which factors—biological, psychological, and social—can predict if someone will develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) three months later. Researchers used questionnaires to assess symptoms and identify high-risk patients, aiming to improve early support and prevent PTSD.
