First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to understand why people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have a higher risk of heart disease and high blood pressure. Researchers will measure nerve activity and test whether the drug losartan can lower high adrenaline levels during stress. The study includes 134 veterans aged 18-65 with and without PTSD.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could point toward a way to lower heart disease risk in people with PTSD by targeting nerve activity.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study with only 134 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The main goal is to understand mechanisms, not to prove a treatment works.
