First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a mobile app for PTSD, along with brief weekly support sessions, can help people who are already in treatment for alcohol problems. About 300 adults with both PTSD and alcohol use disorder will use the app or receive standard care. Researchers will track changes in PTSD symptoms and drinking over time.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

PTSD Coach App with brief support sessions

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, app-based way to help people in alcohol treatment also manage their PTSD symptoms.

What could go wrong

This is a behavioral intervention study, not a drug trial, so results may be modest. The app is an add-on to existing treatment, and benefits may not be large or long-lasting.
