A 4-session couples therapy aims to curb violence in veteran relationships
NCT ID NCT07749755
First seen Aug 06, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a short couples therapy, called MERA-C, can help reduce intimate partner violence and improve emotional health in veteran couples. The therapy involves four weekly sessions with both partners, focusing on managing emotions to prevent aggression. Researchers will first gather input from veterans and their partners to refine the therapy, then test it in a small group of couples to see if it is feasible and acceptable, and finally compare it to individual therapy in a pilot trial with 60 couples.
