First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a drug called psilocybin, given alongside talk therapy, can help people with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) who haven't gotten better with standard treatments. Fifteen adults will receive three eight-hour sessions under the influence of psilocybin, plus 12 therapy sessions. Researchers will measure changes in OCD symptoms, anxiety, and depression to see if the approach is safe and effective.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with severe OCD who haven't been helped by standard therapies.
