Magic mushroom compound tested as new hope for fibromyalgia pain

NCT ID NCT06368492

Summary

This study is investigating whether low, non-hallucinogenic doses of psilocybin—the active compound in 'magic mushrooms'—can help reduce pain in people with fibromyalgia. It will involve 35 participants who will receive either a placebo or one of two low doses of psilocybin to see how it affects their pain perception. The goal is to see if this approach offers a new way to ease the chronic pain associated with this difficult-to-treat condition.
