Magic mushroom therapy targets core symptom of depression

NCT ID NCT06230757

Summary

This study is testing whether psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' combined with psychological support, can help people with treatment-resistant depression who struggle with anhedonia—the inability to feel pleasure. The trial involves 40 adults who have not responded well to at least two standard antidepressant treatments. Researchers will measure changes in pleasure, mood, and brain activity to see if this approach is effective and safe.
