Brain-Zapping mushroom therapy tested for deep depression

NCT ID NCT06132178

Summary

This study is testing whether combining psilocybin (a psychedelic compound) therapy with a rapid form of non-invasive brain stimulation is safe and more effective for treating severe depression that hasn't responded to other treatments. One hundred adults will receive either a high or low dose of psilocybin in a therapy session, followed by a week of either real or sham brain stimulation. Researchers will track changes in depression symptoms, brain activity, and quality of life over a full year.
