Own blood injection may speed Post-Birth healing, trial hopes
NCT ID NCT07669285
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether injecting a woman's own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into an episiotomy cut right after childbirth can improve healing and reduce pain. Two hundred women will be randomly assigned to receive either PRP or standard wound care. Researchers will check wound healing and pain levels over 6 weeks to see if this simple, low-risk treatment makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
platelet-rich plasma (PRP) made from the patient's own blood
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help new mothers heal faster and feel less pain after an episiotomy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no prior strong evidence. PRP may not improve healing or pain compared to standard care, and results may not apply to all women.
