NCT ID NCT04096014
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking a protein supplement (Ensure Enlive) in the late evening and early morning can reduce hospital readmissions for people with hepatic encephalopathy, a condition causing confusion due to liver disease. About 40 adults with cirrhosis and a recent hospital stay for this condition will take the supplement for 6 months. The goal is to see if the protein helps prevent muscle breakdown and lowers the chance of returning to the hospital.
