New scan could spare prostate cancer patients unnecessary surgery

Summary
This study is testing a new type of imaging scan to see if it can accurately tell whether prostate cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. If successful, this scan could help doctors decide which patients truly need to have their lymph nodes removed during prostate cancer surgery, potentially sparing many from that additional procedure. The trial involves 50 men with high-risk prostate cancer who are scheduled for surgery.
