New ultrasound technique could rival MRI for prostate cancer detection
NCT ID NCT05220501
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a new, high-resolution ultrasound (micro-ultrasound) can find aggressive prostate cancers as well as MRI does during biopsy. Over 800 men with suspected prostate cancer were randomly assigned to one of three biopsy guidance methods. The goal was to see which approach best detects cancers that need treatment, potentially offering a simpler and cheaper alternative to MRI.
