Could a simple supplement fix heart artery damage?

NCT ID NCT05135702

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether taking propionic acid (a natural substance made by gut bacteria) can improve blood vessel function and reduce inflammation in 20 adults with coronary artery disease. Participants will take the supplement for 4 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in artery health, blood markers, and gut bacteria. The goal is to find a new way to manage heart disease, not to cure it.
