Friendly bacteria vs. hospital superbugs: can probiotics protect the critically ill?

NCT ID NCT07164781

Summary

This study is testing whether taking probiotics (live 'good' bacteria) can help prevent serious infections in adults who are critically ill in the hospital. It will involve 100 patients and compare those receiving probiotics to those receiving a placebo (dummy pill). The main goal is to see if probiotics reduce infections like pneumonia, bloodstream infections, and urinary tract infections.
