Gut health breakthrough: probiotics may boost anemia treatment in dialysis patients

NCT ID NCT07296146

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether taking probiotics daily can help chronic kidney disease patients on dialysis better respond to anemia medication (erythropoietin). About 80 adults will receive either erythropoietin alone or erythropoietin plus probiotics for 3 months. Researchers will track hemoglobin levels and symptom diaries to see if probiotics reduce resistance to treatment.
