First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a one-time educational session called Proactive Costs of Care, designed to help gynecologic cancer patients and their caregivers manage the financial side of treatment. A trained lay educator reviews health insurance, employment options, and community support using a guide and cost tracker. The goal is to see if the program is feasible and whether it improves confidence and reduces financial distress. About 36 participants will take surveys before and 3 months after the session.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Proactive Costs of Care educational intervention (guide and cost tracker delivered by a lay educator)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this program could help cancer patients and caregivers feel more confident managing medical costs and reduce financial stress.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early feasibility study with only 36 participants at one hospital, so results may not apply to everyone. The one-time session may not be enough to make a lasting difference.
