Could a blast of cold air save your brain after a heart attack?

NCT ID NCT06025123

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether cooling the brain quickly after a cardiac arrest (using a special nasal device) and then keeping the body cool for 24 hours helps more people survive with full brain function. About 1,000 adults aged 18-79 who have a shockable heart rhythm will be randomly assigned to either rapid cooling or standard care. The main goal is to see if more people in the cooling group are alive and neurologically healthy 90 days later.
