New program aims to stop Post-Surgery confusion in seniors

NCT ID NCT05114876

Summary

This study is testing a program designed to prevent delirium, a common and serious state of confusion after surgery in older adults. Researchers will first test patients' memory before surgery to identify those at highest risk. Those patients and their care teams will then receive specific education and recommendations on simple, proven strategies—like ensuring good sleep and hydration—to try to prevent delirium from occurring.
