Drug-Only approach may prevent Post-Procedure pancreatitis without stent risks

NCT ID NCT07117318

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two ways to prevent pancreatitis after a procedure called ERCP: giving a rectal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) alone versus the drug plus placing a small tube (stent) in the pancreas. The trial enrolls about 1,278 high-risk patients aged 18-90 who have not had prior pancreatic stenting. The goal is to see if the drug alone works just as well, avoiding the extra complexity and risks of stent placement.
