Hope for cancer patients: simple drug combo may prevent Chemo-Induced nerve pain

NCT ID NCT07504198

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether two existing drugs—memantine (used for Alzheimer's) and rosuvastatin (a cholesterol-lowering statin)—can prevent nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin in people with colorectal cancer. About 46 adults will receive these drugs alongside their standard chemotherapy. The goal is to see if fewer patients develop painful numbness or tingling in their hands and feet.
