First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving the acid-reducing drug pantoprazole during heart surgery could help prevent acute kidney injury. About 100 adults at moderate-to-high risk for kidney damage after surgery took part. Researchers compared pantoprazole to another acid reducer, famotidine, and measured kidney injury markers in urine.
