First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests if measuring parathyroid hormone (PTH) earlier after thyroid surgery can prevent symptomatic hypoparathyroidism, a condition where low calcium causes symptoms like tingling or cramps. About 336 adults having their thyroid removed will be monitored. The goal is to create a clear treatment plan that reduces symptoms, improves quality of life, and may shorten hospital stays.
