Artery-Saving technique could cut leak risk in colon cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07098182

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 39 times

Summary

This study looks at whether keeping the left colic artery intact during colon or rectal cancer surgery helps maintain better blood flow to the remaining colon. About 50 adults with colorectal or ovarian cancer will have their blood flow measured with and without clamping this artery. The goal is to see if this approach can lower the risk of dangerous leaks where the colon is reconnected.
