New approach: radiation first, then surgery for brain tumors
NCT ID NCT04545814
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This small pilot study tested a new order of treatment for people with brain metastases (cancer that spread to the brain). Instead of the usual surgery first, patients received focused radiation (gamma knife) before surgery. The goal was to see if this approach could better control the disease. Only 11 patients took part, and the study looked at how many had no visible tumor after treatment.
