Blood marker may forecast liver survival in biliary atresia

NCT ID NCT05848310

First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a substance in the blood called FGF19, measured before surgery, can help predict how well children with biliary atresia will do after their operation. Researchers will follow 200 children for one year to see if FGF19 levels are linked to liver function and the need for a liver transplant. The goal is to find a simple way to identify which children may have better or worse outcomes.
