Natural hormone tested as new hope for menopause blues
NCT ID NCT03505905
Summary
This study tested if pregnenolone, a natural hormone sold as a supplement, could help reduce depression in women during or after menopause. Researchers compared pregnenolone to a placebo pill in 73 women to see if it improved mood, anxiety, hot flashes, and thinking skills. The goal was to find a new, well-tolerated treatment option for this common and difficult-to-treat form of depression.
